I have one of Tim Ballard’s books he wrote called “the American Covenant” sitting on my floor by my bed with a few dozen other books I want to read. While chatting with Susie Schnell today she mentioned Tim had been on Glenn Beck’s radio and TV show this past week and it was really interesting. So I looked it up and was totally fascinated by what Tim had to share. His new book sounds really incredible and it’s more of that great stuff we never hear about any more. I wonder where our country would be if we had all been raised with a proper understanding of the founding of our country? Certainly not where we are today.

There is some overlap between the radio and TV segment but I’m posting both because each has some unique content. The radio segment is longer so if you only listen to one, listen to it. Then get the book on Amazon. Washington entered into a covenant with God patterned after the ancient Israelite covenant that we would be God’s people if he would protect and prosper us. Washington called on the people to repent by fasting and prayer. Then God delivered us over and over again.

If you can’t bring yourself to read the book and it’s references, that’s your problem, not the author’s or Glenn Beck’s. It is a fact that the Framers referred heavily to the Old Testament, especially Deuteronomy, more so than any other resource. The facts surrounding Washington’s escape are well documented by people who were on both sides of the conflict. Why don’t we learn these stories in school? Because there is a false notion that the separation of church and state means a separation of God and state. They are totally different things and the Leftists in this country have been eradicating God from everything they can, especially in our schools so children don’t grow up knowing the great inspiring stories that show God’s hand in our country’s founding.

Oak, I just want to get inside your brain for a second, so could you answer these questions as either a Fact, Opinion, or Belief.

1. Jesus is the literal son of God.

2. The U.S. Constitution was divinely inspired.

3. Some of the Founding Fathers (after they were deceased) asked to be baptized into the LDS church.

4. Christopher Columbus had divine help in discovering America.

6. Alexander the Great is the literal son of Zeus.

7. Aliens from outer space routinely abduct human beings.

8. The Islamic Quran if the literal word of God.

Sorry, I didn’t sign up for this game show. I’m sure you know my answers. This post is about the book above. If you don’t like it, so be it, but I’m not going to play silly games about your desire to prove Glenn Beck is some sort of revisionist. Read the book and then decide. There’s more than enough content on this site and several others for you to “get inside my brain.”

You are true to form, Oak. I expected that answer. You are simply too afraid to answer those questions. I don’t think you can distinguish between facts, opinions, and beliefs which explains why you love reading these pseudo-history books. I have read some excerpts from this book and I will get a copy and read the rest, but from what I’ve read so far, it muddies the waters between historical facts and personal religious beliefs similar in fashion to Skousen and to many of the so-called historians that Glenn Beck trots out on his propaganda program. In fact, after reading just one page, I could immediately tell that the author is LDS. When I read “real” history books, I can’t determine the religion of the author. That is the way it should be.

Now, before you get too bothered by my comments and make some assumptions about my beliefs, I’m LDS, a conservative, and have a personal belief in many of the things that Ballard contends, but where we differ, Oak, is desiring to push personal religious beliefs on children. This type of stuff does not belong in a school that takes tax payer dollars of any sort. That means traditional public schools, public charter schools, and any private school subsidized in any fashion with taxpayer money (vouchers, backpack funding). If parents want their children to learn a parochial version of U.S. History, that is fine, but not with my tax dollars.

Yep, too afraid. I never do anything that puts my beliefs out there where I could be criticized or mocked. I live in fear of such things.
