China’s share of the entire national debt is way overplayed.  Their share of sovereign debt (foreign debt) is only slightly higher than Japan’s.  Out of the $15 trillion in debt, $4.5 million is owed to foreigners.  China’s share is $1.16 trillion, Japan is $912 billion.  American households are owed almost $1 trillion alone in U.S. saving’s bonds.

To make it easier to understand, America owes itself $10 trillion dollars and it owes foreigners $4.5 trillion.

I agree that any debt is too much debt, but our country was founded in debt and will always remain so.  Almost every country on earth has debt.  Even China has almost $1.3 trillion in debt.

I would say that most of our problems have come from a gov’t run school system that teaches us to depend on gov’t and not on God. If our schools would become privatized and if they would teach the Bible and the Constitution our problems would be diminished and we would see the blessings come.

Where does that federal funding come from Scott?
A) A general federal government which has money laying around to share with us
B) China lending us money raising our debts
C) Magic money the Federal Reserve prints out of thin air
D) You and me and our children and grandchildren and g-grandchildren
E) B, C, and D

Got your answer yet? Yep, it’s E, but ultimately the correct answer is D. You and I are paying for it for generations. Since the federal government takes the money from us and then gives it back, they attach strings to it’s use instead of letting us keep the money, lower federal taxes, raise state taxes to shift the tax burden, and then we set our own standards and requirements. Local control means local funding where the benefits are going to be derived. We have already lost local control, but Common Core is the endgame where local authorities will just become the enforcement arm of the U.S. DOE and our Utah leaders have led us right into this trap.

Certainly the Republicans and Democrats are both to blame for many years on this, but right now Obama and Duncan are wrapping the package up into the final step to nationalize education. And yes, I’ve lobbied our politicians to get off federal funding. Have you? I hope so.

Oak,  it is hard to take posts like this seriously when the rhetoric is over the top from the outset.  A bit of advice, if you want to persuade people to take a serious look at what you have to say, then be honest and truthful and fair.  Obama did not write the common core curriculum, the states did.  I know that it is politically expedient to blame Obama for everything, but this whole mess started with the creation of the U.S. Dept of Education and then accelerated under President G.W. Bush with NCLB, a Republican.    You know darn well that the federal government (both Republicans and Democrats) are not interested in letting the states out of NCLB unless they adopt the Common Core Standards and then they are using those standards to to continue their stranglehold over education.  All of these posts about the Common Core are meaningless because whether or not we follow the Common Core, the federal government still has control of Utah through NCLB.  If you want to make a real difference in this struggle, lobby our politicians to reject all federal funding.  We can start by taxing the mineral resources at a fair level that is on par with the surrounding states.  That alone will be enough to offset federal education funds.

As for Arne Duncan, I’m no fan. He is also trying to addict Charter Schools to federal funding so they can control them as well. Arne is a big charter school advocate, and one has to wonder why.

So out of that post, the one thing that you take issue with is identifying the current federal takeover as ObamaCore? Nothing else to be concerned about there I guess…
