Charlton Heston’s “A Torch With No Flame”
This is an awesome video about passing the torch to the next generation concerning 2nd Amendment rights. Share this one with your kids.
ASD Motto Voting
Here is the poll to vote for the new Alpine School District motto based on the top results from the brainstorming. You may select 3 answers. If you like one a lot but would rather see a word tweaked to something else, vote for it anyway and make a comment below. The top 2-3 vote recipients will go to a run off and if there is a favorable variation on one of them I’ll include that as well as an option.

Sunlight Foundation
This is a cool organization. They are all about transparency in government and they have a couple of cool apps for handheld devices. I have a Motorola Droid and love it and my favorite app is “Congress” by this Foundation. Congress lets me “favorite” senators and representatives and keep tabs on everything they sponsor, vote on, what they tweet, when they’re on YouTube, etc… I can also get ill reading a general listing of all the insane bills being put before congress and how they turn out. It’s cool to also see the full history of a bill, when it was introduced and how it moved through the system.
There is also an iPhone app called “RealTimeCongress” which sounds somewhat similar but doesn’t indicate it’s the same so perhaps one of you with an iPhone can leave a comment if it seems to function like the Congress app for Android.
Here’s a link to the company page full of projects they’re engaged in:
https://sunlightfoundation.com/resources/
I also emailed the company to ask if they were doing a similar app for states and they said they are but it’s not going to be ready any time soon. If you’re a programmer, it looks like you may be able to join some of their projects and help out.
Christians Under Assault
You may or may not have heard about the professor in Illinois who was fired for telling students in his Catholicism class that he agreed with the Catholic church stand on homosexuality. A student, not even in his class, complained to the administration and they of course fired him before his personal views might unduly influence anyone else.

Then a university student in Georgia who is pursuing a masters degree in counseling has had a “remediation plan” imposed on her by school officials after they learned she was Christian and unless she completes it she can be kicked out of the program. The “plan” included an admonishion to attend a gay-pride parade and then write about her feelings after attending.

Christians are being more openly assaulted on their free speech rights than ever before. The “Thought Police” have transformed this country into one where the only belief system is one in which you can only believe there is NO God. Humanism is the religion and it is being taught in schools.
Interestingly, Elder Russell M. Nelson of the LDS church recently gave a talk on the subject of defending our faith.
https://www.ldschurchnews.com/articles/59491/We-are-all-enlisted—Elder-Nelson-exhorts-young-adults-to-defend-faith.html
Here is a relevant section from this news article:
“Theistic forces, be they Islamic, Jewish, Catholic, Protestant or Mormon, teach that there is an absolute right and wrong,” he said. “Theistic forces have an ethic that reveres the righteous judgments of a loving God and obeys civil and divine law voluntarily.
“As a God-fearing person, you know that even if the police don’t catch you if you were to steal, murder or commit adultery, these acts are wrong and God will ultimately hold you accountable. You know, just as your ancestors knew, that the consequences for not playing by the rules are not only temporal, but also eternal.”
The call for complete separation of church and state, Elder Nelson argued, would effectively destroy any theistic culture while giving atheistic forces free reign.
“If that happens,” Elder Nelson warned, “the theistic and noble concept of freedom of religion could be twisted and turned to become an atheistic freedom from religion. Such an unbalanced policy could sweep out the theistic forces that have been responsible for our society’s success, and leave the field wide open to atheistic ideology, secularism and huge losses for each of us.”
To illustrate, Elder Nelson compared theistic and atheistic responses to current global economic crises. Blaming them on overpopulation of the earth, as some have done, comes from an atheistic mindset intent on attacking the family.
This reminds me of a great talk by Elder James E. Faust at a BYU Devotional entitled, “Trying to Serve the Lord Without Offending the Devil.” Here’s the link and a clip from the talk:
https://www.byub.org/talks/Talk.aspx?id=757
“I wonder how much we offend Satan if the proclamation of our faith is limited only to the great humanitarian work this Church does throughout the world, or to our beautiful buildings, or to this great university, marvelous as these activities are. When we preach the gospel of social justice, no doubt the devil is not troubled.”
and…
“I pray that we will dedicate our lives to serving the Lord and not worry about offending the devil.”
School District Motto Contest
OK folks, there’s enough people trafficking this site that I think we can help Alpine School District with their motto. They said their current motto, “Educating All Students to Ensure the Future of our Democracy,” took 18 months and 40 meetings to come up with. That’s pretty amazing. I think they should have just set up a web page for ideas and then refined it with direct public input, especially since they’re so keen on democracy. :)
So here’s what I’d like you to do. Ponder what you think a good motto should say and post it in the comments along with a reason why you like it. If you like a motto from someone, click the “like” button and you can do that once for each motto. At the end of the week I’ll take the top “liked” mottoes and stick them on a survey form and we’ll let everyone take a vote for their favorites and we’ll take the top 2-3 and get input on refining them in case a word or two could be improved to make it even better.
Bill Ayers Exposed
In June 1969, Bill Ayers and 9 other members of the terrorist organization “The Weather Underground” (WU) (one of which was, or would become, his wife), wrote “You Don’t Need A Weatherman To Know Which Way The Wind Blows.” This was their manifesto and blueprint for the Marxist revolutionary takeover of America. Download the entire document here (You Don’t Need A Weatherman), or you can read some highlights below.
If you are like me and didn’t grow up studying this stuff, here are a few definitions that will be helpful as you proceed.
- Proletariat: the laboring/working class
- Bourgeoisie: the middle class
- Petit Bourgeoisie: small business people of the middle class (professionals)
- Nationalist peasants: the poor who have national loyalty
- National Bourgeoisie: middle class with national loyalty
- Imperialism is capitalism to the WU and seemingly all authority in and out of country (police, military, politicians, etc…)
This key component from the document stood out to me:
“In the history of some external colonies, such as China and Vietnam, the struggle for self-determination has had two stages: (1) a united front against imperialism and for New Democracy (which is a joint dictatorship of anti-colonial classes led by the proletariat, the content of which is a compromise between the interests of the proletariat and nationalist peasants, petit bourgeoisie and national bourgeoisie); and (2) developing out of the new democratic stage, socialism.“
The essence of the WU blueprint you are about to discover, centers in the need to work toward a new “democracy” (a now very palatable word to the public) and promote class warfare so that the lower and middle classes can reach a compromise with each other forming a majority (essential to a Democracy) and overthrow the free enterprise system and entrepreneurs of the world. This democratic compromise will set the stage for a socialist society. Once the majority overthrows constitutional government and the free enterprise system, the revolutionaries will come to power and bring about a communist dictatorship. This is to be achieved creating discord among the people of the country by heightening race tensions through Black Liberation programs, through the education system teaching the young to hate authority figures such as the police, and to promote the liberation of women taking them out of the home where they are oppressed by their husband. The destruction of the family will help lead to revolution.
Isn’t it curious that Bill Ayers is to be the keynote speaker at the John Goodlad NNER (National Network for Educational Renewal) conference this October? Since we know Goodlad to be a socialist with practically identical public beliefs to Bill Ayers, this is not very surprising.

Edward Bernays Propaganda
Who is Edward Bernays? In brief, he was one of the individuals under Woodrow Wilson who sold World War I to the American public. He wrote a book published in 1928 called “Propaganda” (https://sandiego.indymedia.org/media/2006/10/119695.pdf) which was treated as a handbook by Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s propaganda minister. Bernays’ uncle was Dr. Sigmund Freud and Bernays relied on Freud’s work in the subconscious to manipulate the public.
Here are a few quotes from his book “Propaganda.”
Pg. 9 “THE conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.”
Pg. 12 “As civilization has become more complex, and as the need for invisible government has been increasingly demonstrated, the technical means have been invented and developed by which opinion may be regimented.”
Pg. 114 “Ours must be a leadership democracy administered by the intelligent minority who know how to regiment and guide the masses.”
Pg. 121-122 “EDUCATION is not securing its proper share of public interest. The public school system, materially and financially, is being adequately supported. There is marked eagerness for a college education, and a vague aspiration for culture, expressed in innumerable courses and lectures. The public is not cognizant of the real value of education, and does not realize that education as a social force is not receiving the kind of attention it has the right to expect in a democracy.
It is felt, for example, that education is entitled to more space in the newspapers; that well informed discussion of education hardly exists; that unless such an issue as the Gary School system is created, or outside of an occasional discussion, such as that aroused over Harvard’s decision to establish a school of business, education does not attract the active interest of the public.
There are a number of reasons for this condition. First of all, there is the fact that the educator has been trained to stimulate to thought the individual students in his classroom, but has not been trained as an educator at large of the public.
In a democracy an educator should, in addition to his academic duties, bear a definite and wholesome relation to the general public. This public does not come within the immediate scope of his academic duties. But in a sense he depends upon it for his living, for the moral support, and the general cultural tone upon which his work must be based. In the field of education, we find what we have found in politics and other fields—that the evolution of the practitioner of the profession has not kept pace with the social evolution around him, and is out of gear with the instruments for the dissemination of ideas which modern society has developed. If this be true, then the training of the educators in this respect should begin in the normal schools, with the addition to their curricula of whatever is necessary to broaden their viewpoint. The public cannot understand unless the teacher understands the relationship between the general public and the academic idea.
The normal school should provide for the training of the educator to make him realize that his is a twofold job: education as a teacher and education as a propagandist.”
Now that you are done with that little reading, please read this article from the Canada Free Press on George Soros and his exploits. I agree with this author. George Soros is evil.
NEA Recommends Reading Saul Alinsky
This is absolutely stunning that the NEA would come right out in the open with a post like this. Everyone knows where the NEA stands politically, but this is a brazen step forward in fully exposing their radical roots and branches. They must feel particularly empowered in order to publish something of this nature.
https://www.nea.org/tools/17231.htm
In case the page disappears, here’s a pdf. (NEA-Recommended Reading-Alinsky)
Says the NEA:
“We hope that [Association Representatives] and local leaders of all political stripes will discern from Alinsky’s books grassroots organizing strategies that will best help us bring our members together around the common goal of improving public education.”
The 1972 Vintage Books paperback edition of Rules for Radicals by Saul D. Alinksy has a page of quotes just before the table of contents. In the last of the three quotes, Alinsky himself said the following:
“Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins — or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer.”
Founding Fathers Article by Walter Williams
A great article by Walter Williams appeared in the Deseret News this week entitled “Founding Fathers would have contempt for vision of today’s Americans.”
